ゆるやかな散策は

A pleasant autumn walk in Todoroki Valley, the only valley in Tokyo 23 wards.
With luscious plants and the trickling of water, it’s a great place to relax and take a break from the busy city.

天空の城に思えて。
 
ロボット兵が現れるかと思った。
 
 
 
It reminded me of the castle in the sky from Ghibli, concrete architecture filled with lush life.
 
 
Throwback to Spring, I visited “Awaji Yumebutai”, which was designed by world-renowned Japanese architect Tadao Ando.
 
It was built upon an abandoned excavation site to revive the damaged nature.
 
One hundred flowerbeds are arranged in a terrace, where we have a panoramic view of Osaka Bay.
 
You can feel many different elements of nature, such as water, sunlight, the ocean breeze, etc.
 
It’s such a refreshing change from the city.

１00年の歴史が刻まれています。
 
 
人々がどんな思いで
 
東京駅を守り、支えてきたか。
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
その前で、ピースをしている私は
 
なんとちっぽけなことでしょう。
 
 

 
 
 
 
 
 
昼間には風がなかったのですが
 
スイス大使をお迎えする頃には
 
両国の旗がはためいて。
 
 

 
 
東京駅の美しさに触れるたび
 
東京に生まれたことを
 
誇りに思います。
 
 
The red brick “Tokyo Station Marunouchi Building,” a symbol of Tokyo, is designated as an important historic site!
 
I visited the guest lounge (atrium) on the 4th floor of the Tokyo Station Hotel, located inside the station building.
 
 
The red bricks and iron pillar on this wall remain as they were since the original construction, built in 1915.
 
It has survived both war and earthquakes.
 
It’s amazing to see 100 years of history so well preserved!
